A Proud History
Detroit Salsa Company boasts a proud history that began when Finn Gomez, son of owner Ray Gomez, set out to create his middle school business plan. The idea for the company grew from Finn’s Great-Grandmother’s homemade salsa recipe, which had become a family staple throughout generations. The Gomez family has long been connected to the Detroit food industry, from wedding catering to slicing tomatoes. This vibrant background provided the perfect foundation for Detroit Salsa Co., which has brought new life to the city with its freshness and spirit.
Within a week, the family was able to officially establish their business and launch production from the kitchen of a local pizza shop. With strong support from the community, they were able to increase awareness through grocery store demos and samples distributed to local businesses. Today, Detroit Salsa Co. is proud to share their salsa with customers in 28 markets and three Meijer stores including Woodward Corner Market in Royal Oak.
