Regular blood sugar monitoring is essential to maintaining good health and avoiding the adverse effects of diabetes. Dr. Iram Rehman, nephrologist from Ascension, further emphasizes the importance of this step in DETROIT (FOX 2). According to him, taking a fasting test is an effective way to determine if an individual has diabetes or is pre-diabetic. On Saturday, as part of the Healthy Heart Project, a rapid random blood glucose test will be available for participants.

The Importance of Regular Blood Sugar Checks

Regularly checking one’s blood sugar levels is an important step towards maintaining good health and avoiding diabetes, a condition that can have far-reaching consequences on one’s body.

The Importance of Monitoring Blood Sugar Levels

In DETROIT (FOX 2), Ascension nephrologist Dr. Iram Rehman emphasizes the importance of monitoring blood sugar levels to avoid potential harm from excess glucose remaining in the bloodstream. According to Dr. Rehman, a fasting test is a more accurate way to determine if an individual has diabetes or is pre-diabetic. Keeping track of one’s blood sugar is critical for overall health and wellbeing.

Dr. Rehman encourages individuals to pay attention to their bodies and look out for common signs of diabetes, such as an increased need to urinate and increased thirst. In order to help individuals stay healthy, The American Diabetes Association recommends regular blood sugar screenings for anyone 35 and older. As part of the Healthy Heart Project on Saturday, a rapid random blood glucose test will be offered to participants.

Take Control of Your Wellbeing

The Healthy Heart Project is coming to five locations in Michigan on Saturday, May 6, 2023. From 7 a.m. until Noon, patients will be seen at Ascension St. John Hospital, Ascension Providence Hospital in Southfield, Ascension Providence Rochester Hospital, Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw, and Ascension Borgess Heart Institute in Kalamazoo. Registration for the event closes at 10 a.m., so make sure to get there before then to secure a spot! This is a great opportunity to get your heart health checked out and to feel proud of taking control of your wellbeing.

By opting to take part in regular health screening for diabetes and monitoring one’s blood sugar levels, individuals can be more conscientious of their health and wellbeing. Not only is this an effective way of managing diabetes but it may even prevent its development and potentially damaging effects. Dr. Rehman and The American Diabetes Association have pointed out the importance of keeping track of fluctuations in blood sugar levels and living a healthy lifestyle in order to remain in peak condition and keep potential health risks at bay. Seek out advice from medical professionals if you have any issues or concerns related to your blood sugar levels.
