On Sunday, October 20, the streets of downtown Royal Oak will transform into a Halloween haven, welcoming families and friends to the 41st annual Royal Oak Spooktacular. This free event, produced by the Royal Oak Chamber of Commerce, promises an afternoon filled with fun, frights, and fantastic activities for all ages.
A Trick-or-Treat Trail to Remember
From 1 PM to 4 PM, children, parents, and caregivers are invited to don their best costumes and embark on a trick-or-treat adventure through downtown Royal Oak. The Trick-or-Treat Trail will feature local businesses handing out treats, making it a safe and enjoyable alternative to traditional neighborhood trick-or-treating.
To ensure you don’t miss any of the spooky stops, maps of the trail will be available at the Chamber booth in Centennial Commons and online once they are finalized.
Spooky Spins and Face Painting
Centennial Commons will be the epicenter of excitement, with Spooky Spins starting at 1 PM and face painters ready to transform your little monsters from 1 PM to 5 PM. The Royal Oak Fire Department (ROFD) truck will also be on-site, offering a unique photo opportunity and a chance to meet the brave firefighters who keep the community safe.
Magic and Mystery
At 4 PM, a magical spectacle awaits in Centennial Commons. Bring a chair or blanket to sit on and grab a free Mystic Kettle (for those 12 and under) before the show begins. This enchanting experience is sure to captivate both the young and the young at heart.
Costume Parade and Contest
Sponsored by Genisys Credit Union, the Costume Parade and Contest will take place at 4:30 PM in Centennial Commons. Participants can sign up at the Chamber booth, and prizes will be awarded for the most creative and spooky costumes. It’s a fantastic opportunity to show off your Halloween spirit and compete for some great prizes.
